Friday, May 12. 2006Late president, Anwar El Sadat, remembered online!! (all rights reserved to David Kume Hennerly) Today was the launching of the official website of Egypt's late president, Anwar El Sadat. (www.anwarsadat.org). The launching took place at his beautiful countryside house in his village, Mit Abu el Kom, situated in the governorate of Minufiya. There is an in-house museum as soon as you enter the place, where Sadat's belongings are displayed.   One of Sadat's last pics taken before his tragic death on 6/10/81..you can see the military uniform worn by Sadat on that day on display in the museum...  A sculpture of Sadat welcomes the guests into the residence.. Downtown Cairo, known here to Egyptians as 'Wust Al Balad', is a place which captures Egypt's history since Muhammad Ali's western rule..the buildings in the area are influenced by the french renaissance architecture..yes! even the french had a little effect on us!
